Conservation
When you are not wearing your jewelry, it is a good idea to keep it in its original case. This habit helps to preserve its shine, prevent scratches and oxidation.
It is normal that with use, the jewels may lose their brilliance. The natural phenomenon of opacification, due to oxidation, is common to all products in precious alloy and can be resolved through professional cleaning if the oxidation stage is advanced. Our jewels do not require extraordinary maintenance, especially if they are handled and cleaned with delicacy.
Advice
For this reason we recommend paying some simple attention.
Always remove your jewelry when applying perfumes, lotions and sprays, chemicals and acids, creams, detergents, etc. It is important that your jewelry does not come into contact with products containing chlorine, such as pool water or cleaning products. Saunas, sweat or sea salt also contribute to the deterioration of metal surfaces.
For this reason, before carrying out particular activities, we suggest removing them and putting them away carefully.
Normal daily use and external factors such as humidity, temperature, contact with cosmetics and skin perspiration can contribute to reducing the shine of surfaces.
Materials
- The phenomenon of reduction of the luster of silver and the modification of the appearance towards darker and more opaque colors, scientifically known as " tarnishing " and commonly called oxidation, is widely known in metallurgy. The extent and speed of this phenomenon are not predictable because they depend on various factors.
- White gold jewelry has a rhodium-plated surface finish. It may happen, over time, that the luster of the rhodium treatment changes, revealing a warmer color, typical of the natural white gold alloy. This phenomenon can be accelerated by reactions with external agents, but since it is still superficial, the treatment can be easily restored through our professional intervention.
- Natural stones and pearls mounted on jewelry are intrinsically delicate, so impacts, even involuntary, could damage or break them, as could thermal shocks.
- Leather is a precious and delicate material, which requires special care in order to promote its correct maintenance. It is advisable to avoid contact of leather cords with external agents and prolonged exposure to sunlight, heat sources or temperature changes, which can alter the appearance of the product (e.g. discoloration).
- As regards fabric cords, it is recommended not to subject them to excessive stress or tractions that could cause them to break.
